Q: I have never life drawn before, what should I expect?A: At NORTHWEST.ARTS, we understand that life drawing can be a new and unique experience, especially if it's your first time. Here’s what you can expect during a life drawing session: 1. Calm and Welcoming Environment: Our open studio set up in the Harrow community is designed to provide a serene and welcoming atmosphere. You will be among fellow artists of varying skill levels, from beginners to professionals. 2. Live Model: A live nude model will pose for you to draw. The posing sessions usually start with a series of short poses, gradually moving to longer ones. This helps in warming up and adjusting to the intricacies of capturing the human form. 3. No Judgement Zone: This is a learning experience, and everyone is here to improve their skills. Mistakes are part of the process, and you're encouraged to explore your creativity without fear of judgment. 4. Guidance and Tips: This session is an open studio, dedicated to independent practice. Feedback is available if requested. If you are interested in learning from an artist, please complete the questionnaire on the services and availability page. My goal is to help you feel more confident and improve your technique. 5. Materials and Setup: If you’re unsure about what materials to bring, we recommend starting with basic drawing supplies like pencils and paper. If you want to challenge yourself, we have other basic materials available to you. If have any specific request, feel free to ask. We also provide easels and drawing boards, but you’re welcome to bring your own setup if preferred. Please note if you oil pain, its preferred that you substitute Turpentine with Sansodor as an odour-free alternative. 6. Community Spirit: Life drawing at NORTHWEST.ARTS is not just about improving your art, but also about becoming part of a supportive community. You'll have the opportunity to connect with other artists, share experiences, and grow together. We look forward to welcoming you! If you have any further questions or need more information, don’t hesitate to contact me.

Q: Will life drawing always be on a Thursday?A: At NORTHWEST.ARTS, I have traditionally held our life drawing sessions on Thursdays to accommodate the schedules of our community members in Harrow. However, I strive to be flexible and responsive to the needs of our dedicated artists. If there is significant interest in scheduling sessions on different days, I will certainly consider making adjustments. Please complete the questionnaire on the services and availability page to log request. I regularly review and update our schedule based on community feedback to ensure it best serves our artists.

Q: Do I have to book online or can I drop in?A: At NORTHWEST.ARTS, I highly recommend booking online to secure your spot for any of my open sessions, classes or workshops. This ensures that I can manage class sizes effectively and provide the best experience for all participants. However, if you prefer, you are welcome to drop in (this will be at a higher rate). Please note that drop-ins are at a higher rate, subject to availability of space and materials, as I may not always be able to accommodate everyone. Therefore, booking online is the best way to guarantee your participation. If you have any questions or need assistance with booking, feel free to contact me!
